New Dates for Spongebob and Top Gun, A Quiet Place Rescheduled

Though new films have quickly diverted from their theatrical debuts in Spring, given the non-existent cinema during this pandemic, the many studios pushing them back are hoping they can pick up the slack in the second half of the year. Many studios are hopeful they can finally see theatrical releases come this late summer and fall. And, thankfully, a previously cancelled film may see the light of day.

According to Deadline, we now have updates on the new schedules.

A Quiet Place Part II, the sequel to the 2018 horror hit of creatures overtaking the planet, was originally supposed to release on March 20th. Due to the Cornovirus outbreak, it was canceled from this date and didn’t have one set for the immediate future. Now it looks like we’ll be seeing a theatrical release currently set for September 4th.

Top Gun: Maverick, the long-awaited sequel to the 1986 jet action drama Top Gun, has rescheduled from its June 24th date for the Christmas season, now debuting on December 23rd.

The SpongeBob Movie: Sponge on the Run, the third film based on the popular Nickelodeon cartoon series, is shifting only slightly in its released, pushed back from May 22nd to July 31st.

We’ll keep you updated on more movie dates as they come in.
